There are many ways an artist can create! My best friend, Chelsea Blake is an excel example of this!
Q: What is it that you "do"? Please describe your artwork/ business here. A: I am a a photographer, I profess in photojournalism and mostly sports but have done other types. A photojournalist is a photographer that photographs, edits and displays photos in an order to tell a visual story. Being able to look at something from a different angle or capture a detail that someone may miss. This past fall I photographed two weddings and two families which took a lot for me to step out of my comfort zone but it’s always good to do that! It’s better to be good in multiple aspects rather than just one or a few things.
Q: Why did you decide to be a photographer? A: It’s been something I’ve enjoyed since I was a kid. When I got to high school I learned a lot and loved it so much that I decided during my sophomore year what and where I was going to college.
Q: What do you love about photography? A: I decided to be a photographer because I enjoyed being able to capture a moment that someone could look at and it would take them back to that exact moment. How all the action, and emotion could be in one image. A camera can do most of the work for you but you also have to do a lot as a photographer to make the image alive from your subject.
I live in Billings, Montana with my boyfriend and our two dogs, one is my puppy! I work full-time as an Administrative Assistant at a car dealership and part-time as a sales associate at Victoria Secret. At the dealership I get to take photos of the vehicles often after they come back from detail/reconditioning, basically after they’re cleaned from a trade-in or bought from the auction. It’s been quite an experience after graduating the last May, but I’m glad to be out on my own and learning more about myself and what I love to do and how I can do better. What is it like doing photography after graduation? It’s been good, some opportunities here and there. For me, trying to get on a newspaper has been difficult, or even trying to venture to photograph sports. Especially in a new state that I’m familiar but not everything, you know? It’s been trial and error but I will find my groove and make my way through it all.
